Mr. William (Bill) Lee Cardin is an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence with more than 25 years experience in quality, engineering, and manufacturing with major corporations. He has presented leadership, quality management, team problem solving, statistical process control and other quality-related and process improvement presentations and courses for corporations, professional, governmental, and educational organizations. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Gardner-Webb College (now University) and has a graduate certificate in Higher Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina. Bill, a senior member of the American Society for Quality and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), is president of Cardin Quality Training Associates, Inc. (CQTA).

Bill was among the first to be awarded an ASQ Certified Quality Manager designation (#333). Bill has concentrated college and graduate work in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, and Higher Education Leadership and has continued his education through leadership and involvement in professional, governmental, and religious organizations. Bill was a founding officer in the ASQ Olde English section and served as Treasurer and Section Chair, as well as chaired many ASQ section committees. Bill served as chair of the ASQ Quality Management Division Quality Management System Committee and was one of the first to be approved by ASQ to provide training for preparation for the ASQ Certified Quality Manager examination. In 2007, he again served as chair of his SME chapter of which he has been a senior member for more than 30 years.

Bill served on the Gaston County Economic Development Commission and serves on the Gaston College Engineering Technology advisory board and the Corporate Education advisory board.

Bill has served as a Deacon, Training Director, Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, Chair of Policy and Procedures, and many other positions in his church.

Mr. Cardin has diverse experience and knowledge in developing, maintaining and improving systems, processes, standards and procedures that assure customer satisfaction. He is known for his ability to lead cross-functional teams, and for having a broad-based knowledge of operations and the development of people. He is experienced in incorporating relevant management technologies into organizations and effecting a culture modification to increase efficiency, effectiveness and quality performance. Bill is quality oriented and an innovative problem solver who thrives in a challenging environment.

His most recent recognition (August 2008) is Gaston College Economic and Workforce Development Instructor of the Year.
